![]() Tuesday, April 29, 2014 Thinking About Joining? This is the perfect time to find out about Scouting. This Open House is for Boy Scouts (boys 11-17 years old) and Cub Scouts (boys 6-10 years old). Troop 54 camps every month - about four of those trips every year are backpacking trips. On these trips, learn what kinds of trees we have deep in the woods and pitch your tent next to one. See neat critters and crazy looking mushrooms, learn to start a camp fire in the rain (gotta cook, right?). Find out how to make the best knots, and use some to keep your food away from forest animals. Troop 54 is part of the Mohegan Council BSA, so we get to use Treasure Valley Scout Reservation. If you become a Boy Scout, you can attend Boy Scout summer camp (separate fee). Pack 54 has den meetings every week, and we have monthly pack events. The den and pack programs encourage parental participation, so you can have years of structured quality time with your son. The boys develop along several themes, including citizenship.
