Treasure Valley Scout Reservation Cub Scout Day Camp offers boys entering grades 1 - 5 an exciting week of adventure, education and fun. Come join our Frontier days at the OK Corral at Day Camp in 2012 and explore the exciting adventures during a time where growth in America was on a west ward trail! Come for one week or more - each week will offer something different and exciting.
In addition to theme activities, our certified camp staff provides instruction in archery, BB guns, swimming, nature, field games and arts & crafts. New this year! Cubs will have fun at the waterfront with our new fleet of paddle boats.

Treasure Valley Scout Reservation located at 394 Pleasantdale Road, Rutland, MA is a beautiful woodland camp with a well supervised waterfront on Browning Pond. The camp is licensed and has health and safety permits from the towns of Spencer and Rutland and from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Cub Scout Day Camp is accredited by the Boy Scouts of America.
Parents and families are always welcome to visit Treasure Valley at anytime during their son’s week. Please register at the Magee Visitor’s Center upon your arrival and departure from camp.
Early Bird Day Camp fees are $220 per Scout if paid by May 18th.
Regular fee is $255 beginning May 19th.

While Boy Scout Troop 151 has been an active troop for 85 years, producing 42 Eagle Scouts and awarding hundreds of merit badges, it will be the Welding Merit Badge that remains a part of troop lore.
During the school vacation in February, seven Scouts from the Troop, Venture Crew member Christina Fallavollita and four Scouts from three other Troops, headed over to Assabet Valley Technical High School, where they became among the first Scouts in the nation to earn the newly introduced badge. While there, some of the Scouts also earned their Metalworking Badge.

Millbury's Cub Scout Pack 109 Pinewood Derby Fun
Millbury's Cub Scout Pack 109 held its Pinewood Derby race on Friday, January 27 at Elmwood Street School. The Scouts built and painted their cars from the standard kit of a block of wood with tires and axles. Victor Irr and Peter Sherman, aka "The Track Guys," brought the track and volunteered their time conducting the races. There were 15 cars by Scouts and 8 cars entered by "siblings," including one by Millbury Federated Church's Pastor Cliff Davis who placed in the top three.
The top three Scout cars were:
1st Place - Jacob S.
2nd Place - Mike M.
3rd Place - Zachary S.
The top five cars are also entered into the District Pinewood Derby to be held at Elmwood Street School on March 24.
The Scouts have many more events planned over the next several months including the Klondike Derby, Scout Sunday, Cabin Fever Madness and a bike rodeo among many other fun activities for the boys.

The troop hiked over 10 miles during March 3-4 and ascended Carter Dome summit at 4,832 feet. Some of the youth broke trail before reaching the summit needing to turn around because it was too difficult. Those that continued climbed pitches of 45-55 degrees on 6-20 inches of fresh snow.
Congratulations to those Scouts who achieved their first White Mountain Winter 4,000 footer ascent!
The Hutmaster commented that the boys were remarkable representatives of Scouting and by far the best troop he has witnessed in the Whites. Sadly, because of past experiences, one group of guests commented they were terrified when they heard Scouts were coming, that notion changed when they experienced the troop. We are so proud of our Scouts for promoting Scouting by their actions, living the Oath and Law in their everyday life! Bravo.

VETS' NEWS by Karen Greenwood, City of Worcester Veterans' Agent
Herb Adams is a member of Greendale American Legion Post 319 in Worcester. A World War II paratrooper serving in many historic conflicts including Anzio Beach and the Battle of the Bulge, Herb gives back 'because he is still here when others didn't return'. He is a long time valued member of the Indian Lake Watershed Association's board of directors, has given tirelessly of himself to the Boy Scouts for over 55 years and is ever dedicated to his brotherhood of local Veterans. At 88 years young, Herb can be found on just about any given day (and often ALL day) maintaining the Frostholm Memorial (across from Strand's Ski Shop), the Hapgood-Brooks Memorial (intersect of Holden/Grove Streets), Morgan Park, Shore Park; clearing overgrowth on city sidewalks; selling poppies to support the Veterans in front of the local supermarket and much, much MORE!!
Scouts please help us fill the Worcester City Council chamber in City Hall on Tuesday, March 13th, 2012 at 7pm as the City Council presents a resolution and key to the City to Herb for his endless commitment to our community.
Our new City Councilor, Tony Economou, has initiated a City Council resolution to honor Herb Adams!! Most of us already know that Herb is the essence of the 'greatest generation' and his work on behalf of so many organizations just never stops. It is exciting to see him honored publicly for his dedication.
For those interested, there will also be a brief dinner before the City Council meeting at Joey's Bar & Grill, 344 Chandler Street at 5pm for those who would like to attend. Cost is $10 per person. On June 1, 2011 an EF 3 tornado struck south western and central Massachusetts, including a direct hit on the properties of East Brimfield and Westville Flood damage reduction projects of the New England District, U S Army Corps of Engineers. Since then a slow but methodical recovery lead by the Park Rangers and Volunteers at these projects in completing clean up, recovery and restoration of project lands.
This Earth Day you have the opportunity to help in continuation of this process by volunteering for one of two projects;
Saturday, April 21st, East Brimfield Lake Project Office, 24 Riverview Ave., Sturbridge MA. Registration at 8:30am, Project work hours; 9am - 12noon, Pizza lunch provided.

I am on staff at the 2013 National Jamboree working in the Adventure Courses. This jamboree will be at “The Summit” in West Virginia. The Adventure courses consist of 5 activities; Challenge Course, Tree and Zip Skills, Climbing and Rappelling, Canopy Tours and Canopy Walks, and Zip Lines. A staff of about 900 is needed for the Adventure Courses so I am recruiting trained volunteers in these skill areas.
