Eleven Scouts, four leaders and one former leader gathered on Monday, November 20 for our eleventh
annual event to bake pies for charities. One first this year for us was making 30 batches of dough for
pie tops and bottoms. Another first was making eight of the pies using fresh apples; ASM
Virginia Marchant had brought everything needed to do that.
We baked 55 pies. The next evening, we boxed them up and delivered 15 to the Veterans Inc shelter
on Grove Street. Wednesday morning, we delivered the remaining 39 pies to the Friendly House food
pantry.
Thanks to the Armenian Church of Our Saviour for allowing us to use their fantastic kitchen for this
and to Troop 54 leaders and parents and Epworth members for providing pie fillings.
