Troop 54 is attending our third Scout Orienteering event. This Scout-O is organized by the New England Orienteering Club and takes place at Hale Reservation in Westwood, MA. Saturday's program will emphasize skill development, training, and practice. Scouts (and adults) will be able to learn orienteering skills such that they will be able to orienteer through the woods on their own. Ample orienteering courses will be available for scouts to practice their orienteering skills. Boy Scouts can complete First Class requirement #2 (orienteering) as well as many requirements for the "Orienteering" Merit Badge. We will camp the nights before and after at Hale Reservation in a "leave no trace" setting called Bird Island near Powissett Lodge. See teh Hale Reservation map for details on the location. Registration:
Travel There: Meet at the Epworth United Methodist Church parking lot at 6:30 PM Friday for departure by 7:00 PM. Travel to Hale Reservation is approximately 1 hour. Estimated return to the church is 12:00 PM Sunday. |
