Troop 54 headed west again, this time making our first trip in Wendell State Forest. Nine Scouts and four leaders made this trip. We hiked north
about six miles on the Metacomet-Monadnock Trail to Ruggles Pond. What had been expected to be our winter campout featured weather so warm that we did
not even need jackets while hiking. The sky was clear all weekend, allowing some star gazing in the evening.
Our camp cooking ranged from just-add-water items to canned meals to a lightweight cooked meal complete with a pudding pie dessert. The hike out,
continuing north, was about five miles. ASM Keevan did a great job identifying this location. |
