Event Description - Beaver Day

This is a Council event for volunteering to help get the camp ready for summer camp. We will be joining Troop 54 in this effort. Each Cub Scout needs a parent with him during the day. Yes, parents can help too! Some of the typical Beaver Day tasks:

  • Picking up trash
  • Raking leaves
  • Setting up canvas tents - a great way to learn a few knots
  • Setting up camp beds
  • Stacking firewood
  • Spreading mulch

Please bring:

  • Work clothes
  • Boots or tennis shoes (no open toed shoes)
  • Work gloves
  • Any personal tools you may find useful

The organizers provide lunch (usually hot dogs), and participating units get to camp overnight free.

Event Description - Campout

Following Beaver Day, which ends at about 3:30 PM, the Pack will camp at Treasure Valley. We'll camp with any members of Troop 54 who want to squeeze a trip in between the trips they already have in early May and mid June. We will be in the Thunderbird site (approximate coordinates N42° 19.448' W71° 59.739').

Family members are welcome. Provide your own food and cooking equipment. You can cook on a campfire or on camp stoves (we will have a couple there and you can bring your own or bring a portable grill). Bring your own tent and set it up on the the camp's wood platforms.

Bring stuff to make smores - melt the marshmallows over the camp fire.

Note that per BSA rules, when staying in tents, no youth will stay in the tent of an adult other than his or her parent or guardian. Youth members may share a tent with other youth.

Registration - Campout

  • Registration fee: there is no fee for this campout.
  • CORI - Adults staying overnight must have submitted a CORI to the Mohegan Council within the last year. If you need this, please submit it to the Scoutmaster by May 4.
  • Annual Health and Medical Record - Each participant must have submitted this record within the previous year. This trip requires only Parts A and B (pages 2 and 3), including copy of insurance card (both sides). A medical exam is not required.
